I enjoy reading book learning about new things that I find in the books I read. Some are sad, full of history, thrilling, scary, mysterious some are just plain funny. Once in a while I find a book that is all of these they are rare a good find to read.
I can spend hours lost in a good book either because the story is so engaging or they are so real that I cant shake the book from my mind. True life stories are enjoyable to read for me at least but when you find one that is so true that it shakes your core it does something to your mind.
When I first started reading The Strange Ways of Providence In My Life, I thought written though the eyes of a child it for be light hearted something sentimental that a child's mind would want to remember joyous times with her family even though it was during World War Two, I mean how much could a child take in and remember a child under 8 years of age.
It started out light hearted with memories of her two sister's her mother and her father she even included her grandparents. I thoroughly was enjoying all the pictures she shared they were so adorable children Sonia and the two sisters.
I was enjoying the different hair styles, clothes the shoes they wore. The scenery was very nice too, pictures with her mother were alot of fun seeing the rooms inside her childhood home it was all so interesting to look at. I even found myself going back and looking through them again in the first parts of the story that is.
One of the biggest things that bugged me about the book was how in the world could a child at this young age remember everything she had written! That was baffling to me, but when the story when on getting to the start of the World War two she said that a gentleman had written memoirs when she had permission to use his quotes it sunk into my mind and my heart deepen.
This is her on the cover she is just too adorable!! This is a heartbreaking story but that has some humor, not much. It is story of a man called Hilter would wanted to control the world and he didn't like Jews he hated them and wanted to rid the world of them. Some people might know that is was a big devil worshipper, no surprised here but makes you see why is was so evil.
This story evolves around the time that Sonia's family had to leave Obertyn to go the ghettos her life in the ghettos the things she saw happen are heart breaking her grief with others broke my heart. It is so sad how evil people can be to each other, the things she shares would pop in my mind hours after I close the story out.
I know the other day something happened to me that borther me and want me to get mad at myself but this story popped in my mind and I calm down fast. The things her family had to endure was terrible it is sad that a young child could and did remember so many horrible things
I want to share more but you have to read this for yourself. This is one of the bad things about reading a book review I want to share but it would ruin the story for you.
The story about the miraculous rescue of the only child to survivor in Obertyn, Poland is profounding, powerful, sad but happy at certain points. She was a strong child from a strong family that loved and cared for each other.
I received this book for testing purposes and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
